GMO or the genetically modified organism is a novel organism created by scientists when they engineers food plants. Experts have cited a lot of health and environmental risks with these foods, thus many people in different parts of the world are demanding non genetically modified or non GMO foods. If you have been in grocery stores in recent days or months, you have seen products with the label of non GMO ingredients or GMO free.

Modification of plants is not a new occurrence. Even in the this new era, experts are continuously inventing new innovations that could convert the process into supplements. Today, more and more people have considered the use of non gmo vitamins and supplements as their daily routine than taking them by any food products.

For many centuries, gardeners and farmers have been considering the process of crossbreeding for various species of plants. They have created other plants that produce more beautiful, tasting and heartier crops. But, this engineered food product have increased the concerns of many people in the world because of the crossbreeding practice.

With the use of the modern genetic engineering process, genes from a certain plant, animal or virus are inserted into different organisms, most often are plants and alter the genetic codes which determines all physical characteristics of the organisms. By using this technology, scientists have also created potatoes that produce their own pesticides or potatoes with jellyfish.

The consumption of the altered foods are also identified properly and the risks are not yet determined because there are still studies conducted to ensure and evaluate what type of risk may endanger human health. Actually, it can cause allergic reactions to some people and produce a lot of diseases. There are also no certain treatment for these conditions, so people are more careful in buying and eating food products.

Since people around the world are more aware of the possible health risks, they are also demanding that producers and manufacturers should eliminate the so called Frankenfoods from their products. There are proactive food producers who stopped using the ingredients and now labeling their items as non Genetically Modified Organism ingredients.

Experts have also produced these supplements. However, there are still people who question the importance of taking these supplements. But, there are actually different reasons to consider supplementing your diet with high quality nutrients. It is true that food cooking, processing and preserving may lead to nutrition depletion in the supply that also makes it hard to obtain enough nutrition from the foods alone.

Most individuals may also have genetic weaknesses that includes the need for nutrients and a possibility of any type of disease. There are also some nutrients which can help to treat health problems such as cancers, high cholesterol and arthritis.

Many believe that taking the right amount of vitamins in the form of healthy foods is enough to obtain the right nutrition their body needs. But, the truth is, it is not enough and require other forms of supplementation. That is why, some prefer to take supplements and eat healthy foods.
