Reinstating Normal Hormonal Imbalance By Means Of Testosterone Therapy For Women

Having reduced testosterone in the body is also referred to as low T levels. Contrary to popular belief, it's an issue that affects not only males but also females. A woman's body produces it, too, although in smaller amounts. Nonetheless, the male hormone is still an important role player among females. This is why testosterone therapy for women is recommended by many doctors in addressing all kinds of problems stemming from low T levels.

The main reason why low T levels also affect females is aging. As the years pass, a female's body manufactures less and less hormones, which include the one that's known as primarily male. This is unavoidable just like so many other things that can be blamed on aging, and some examples are the blurring of eyesight, appearance of wrinkles and graying of hair.

Hormones are chemicals produced by various glands. They travel to different areas of the body via the bloodstream, and they affect the way certain cells and tissues function. Many different problems can come into being if the normal balance of hormones becomes disrupted due to a number of issues, and one of them is aging.

The aging process is not the only one that can trigger low T levels among women. Testosterone in males is manufactured by the testicles. In contrast, the same hormones are produced by a woman's ovaries. It's exactly for this reason why an imbalance in the hormones can stem from a medical procedure known as hysterectomy in which some or all parts of the uterus are eliminated surgically.

The predominantly male hormone isn't the only one that declines when a woman ages but estrogen, too. Many years ago, scientists thought that the different pesky signs and symptoms of being in the menopausal stage could only be due to estrogen depletion. This is why reestablishing optimum levels of the said female hormone used to be the norm in resolving the various signs and symptoms menopausal women complain about.

Health authorities eventually discovered that the many unfavorable issues that women encounter during menopause can also be blamed on low T levels. Inevitably, a form of treatment that aims to normalize the levels of the male hormone came into being. These days, the very same therapy is helping a lot of menopausal females as well as those that went through hysterectomy to live normal lives.

While there are all sorts of benefits that come with the treatment, certain side effects are associated with it. However, such can be expected with practically any medical procedure imaginable. Some examples of side effects that are commonly reported include mood changes, headaches, nausea, indigestion, bloating, breast tenderness, leg cramps and swelling of certain areas of the body.

Taking into consideration the pros and cons is important before a female decides to go though hormonal replacement procedures. If the negatives are outweighed by the positives, then having the treatment is a good idea. Some other solutions, otherwise, should be discussed with a doctor.
